The clock is ticking down for federal workers, deciding whether to accept the Trump administration's so-called buyout offer to resign. President Donald Trump and Elon Musk want

to get rid of hundreds of thousands of workers, in a move they say will help streamline America's federal

agencies. Employees have until midnight tonight to agree to a deal that would see them paid

until the end of September or face being laid off. The White House says roughly 2% of the

2 million workers who received the offer have taken it.

I've spoken to several federal workers across the U.S. government, and they all say that

their lives are in a state of limbo. They don't know if they'll be fired. There's uncertainty around this buyout that the administration is offering.

They don't know if it's legal

or if the administration will keep their word if they resign. But I do get the sense that many

of these federal workers have a lot of fight in them and they're not willing to just give up their

jobs. They'll be leaning on these unions to essentially protect their jobs through legal action.
