Today's story was shared by Dixie at our Birmingham 280 gathering.

Dixie was trafficked at the age of 17 after she had already endured a few traumatic experiences.

As you hear about her journey, you begin to better understand how pain, loneliness, and fear can drive our choices and decisions.

And if you've never heard much about human trafficking, you might wonder how someone even gets involved or why a woman wouldn't just walk away.

But as you'll learn through this story,

the business of trafficking is built on deceit and manipulation. And maybe even more surprising

and alarming is that trafficking is far more mainstream than we would ever imagine. In Dixie's most

desperate moments, she knew the God she surrendered her life to as a teen was with her,

and he was showing her a way out. After years of believing that she was never enough,

the Lord helped her see that she was just like that one of the 99 sheep who the shepherd goes

after to rescue. Every child of God is worth fighting for, and he's been faithful to continue the work that he began in her life.
