Hey everybody Rob Maower here and today we're going to be talking about a new final rule that has been posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the

0:14.8

United States for occupant protection for vehicles with automated driving systems.

0:19.4

I hope this might sound a little bit boring, but as a part of this process, NHTSA has solicited and included feedback from automakers and other companies involved in the autonomous driving space.

0:28.5

So there are actually quite a few different comments in here directly from Tesla about how NHTSA is writing this policy.

0:35.3

Some of those comments may give us a hint at what Tesla has planned for the future.

0:39.7

After that and on theme we have an updated safety report from Tesla, we'll take look at and then I do want to revisit a couple of topics quickly from yesterday

0:46.6

Quick scheduling update before we get into those topics Tesla today did announce that the Q4 earnings report, as expected, will take place after market close on Wednesday, January 27th.

1:03.4

Pacific time, 6.30 p.m.

1:05.3

U.C. they'll have a shareholder call which generally lasts about an hour so

1:10.8

a lot to look forward to there over the next couple of weeks

1:12.8

we'll definitely be doing a lot of earnings preview type of stuff.

1:15.1

Q4 reports are always a little bit bigger because they are the year-end report and

1:18.8

that means we should get at least a little bit of guidance on their outlook for 2021. We continue to at this

1:24.9

point only have rumors on the model S and the model X in terms of if they are

1:28.3

actually being refreshed or if production has restarted anything like that. If there is a

1:32.3

refresh Q4 would give them a really good

1:33.8

opportunity to talk about some of the key elements of that. So, I don't know, that's a line in the

1:39.1

sand at least or a date that we can look forward to in regards to the SNX as well.

1:43.4

All right, so first things first on this new policy from NHTSA.

1:46.2

This is a 146-page report.

1:48.0

I've done my best to read as much of it as I can.
