We like to get right into it and what we're going to get into today is a big issue for Republicans

and has been for many, many years and it's the question of bias in polling and specifically,

obviously, we have midterm elections coming up. So it's bias in midterm pollings.

Now, you know, if you've followed any of this, Republicans always believe that the polls are slanted

against them. Now, that belief has sometimes caused them to misread big political races.

I remember 2012 that was Mitt Romney trying to defeat incumbent President Barack Obama.

2012, a lot of Republicans convinced themselves that Romney was actually going to defeat

an incumbent president. There was a lot of talk about unscuing the polls. Remember that?

All the polls were skewed, so you had to unscue them. And then Obama beat Romney pretty handling.

So that was kind of an exercise in self-deception on the part of Republicans.

Now, that said, there have also been some egregious examples since then of polling bias.

Or just calling polling mistakes, if you want to, I don't want to call it bias,

calling mistakes. In the years since Donald Trump entered politics, on many occasions,

pollsters have seemed unable to measure Trump's true appeal, especially in state-level polls.

Not problems not as bad nationally, but in state-level polls, which of course is extremely

important in midterm elections and also for the electoral college and presidential elections.
