Good evening from New York. I'm Chris A.Z. Israeli Defense Forces, the people of Gaza

and those watching around the world are bracing for a massive military operation into the

Palestinian territory ruled by Hamas and the Gaza Strip. The war has already begun with

the air. From the air with Israeli forces continuing to strike Gaza today in retaliation

for the brutal massacre of civilians, Hamas carried out across the border in Israel on Saturday.

The death toll from that massacre now stands at over 1,200 people. The idea says they have

carried out strikes against nearly 2,700 targets across the Gaza Strip and assault. The

Air Force Chief of Staff said was, quote, on an unprecedented scale because what happened

here is something that has never happened before. In a televised speech to the Israeli

people, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised, quote, every member of Hamas is a dead

man. Netanyahu will now be joined by members of the opposition party in an emergency unity

government with a newly formed war cabinet. This comes amid the mobilization of hundreds

of thousands of Israeli troops, many of whom have been sent to bolster the southern border

with Gaza. The army says they are still battling isolated

Hamas militants hiding in the south, although they have secured the border. Concerns about

a second front opening the war heightened today as sirens blared across the north, warning

of an intrusion into Israeli airspace from Lebanon, the base for Hezbollah, a powerful

Shiite militant group. However, the idea of leader confirmed that was a false alarm. Rockets

launched from Gaza did hit the southern city of Ashkelon once again, sending residents

running for cover and damaging a medical center.
