This is CBS. I on the world. I'm John Batchel. Michael Yan. Michael at Yon for his Twitter address, now called X, is in Panama City. He's going to report on Panama in the news for the Trump administration every day because of concerns that China has

undermined the authority and the infrastructure of Panama. So Michael's been there for weeks

following through on his earlier investigations of the Darien Gap and the flood, the avalanche,

the tsunami, whatever metaphor is useful, of people from

the third world and the global south coming through the gap headed to the Mexican-U.S. border.

However, we begin now with Michael's most recent tour of Panama and the canal, 82 kilometers, as my memory,

with facilities at both ends that are about to be touched again by the United States military.

We begin, however, with Michael's day event.

He's headed to a Chinese boat race. Michael, what the heck is a Chinese boat race?

I just found out about it last night. I've been busy, you know, going down into the Darying.

And yesterday I took a helicopter over the canal again to see what's going on with the various

constructions such as the China Bridge and whatnot. And then I learned

about this Chinese annual Chinese boat race, which is not far from me. And I'm going to go and

check it out, see what's going on. You know, I mentioned to you before about the dragon claws,

the Chinese dragon claws. When they have five claws on the dragons, it means, you know, China's claiming that land. And if you go down to the Chinese park on the edge of the Thatcher Ferry Bridge, which is the bridge of the Americas, right next to the new bridge that China's building, the dragons there have five claws, interesting. And so, um, and so anyway,

I'm going to go, there's a huge Chinese information war going on here in, in Panama. As you can

imagine, you know, they've got the normal, the books and the signs and the parks and, and everything

to make warm relations with Panama because they're

doing the normal comprehensive war.

You know, they don't just come in guns ablazing.

They come in with money ablazing and debt traps like the Chinese bridge is, you know, doubles as both a debt trap and also
