I wanted to start this episode with the sound of knives sharpening.

Then my husband said that that's dangerous and he would like expect to come into the

office and see blood everywhere so we're going to avoid that but just picture for a moment knives sharpening that shh shh shhhh you know that sound you hear chefs do it I love that sound

why am I talking about knives today I I'm not coming for you. Don't worry.

I want to share with you a quote that I love, love, love from Mr. Abraham Lincoln who says,

if I only had an hour to chop down a tree,

I would spend the first 45 minutes sharpening my axe.

What does he mean by that? Oh, I see this a lot, a lot, a lot.

If we have one hour to do something, we hack away or get straight into it we can use up a lot of time and even maybe after that one hour the tree is still standing and we're no better off and we wonder why we're tired right or we

wonder why other people get better results or we wonder why it's taking so long.

So often it can be as simple as learning one new skill.

Truly one new skill. This is how I feel about learning new skills, right? It's like taking

that kitchen knife and replacing it with an axe. It's, I mean you don't change, right right but the tools that you add into your life really

empower you and so often we're so resistant to learning new skills thinking like

you know education stops at a certain age like where you think oh you

know I've been to college or you know I've studied what I need to like the rest is just like

life and it's just experience but experience is hyper valuable.

I will choose experience in a person and their attitude

over anything else if I want to work with them.

But I can tell you that the person who is always open, receiving, just receptive to learning new skills, they

go far and they cut down a lot of trees.
