All right, good afternoon, everybody. Today is Thursday, October the 23rd. Lots to get to today because it's a day ending in why. And we are still people living in America, frankly, anywhere in the world. There's a ton of things happening. But we in America are really going through it because, boy, are we not used to struggle. Well, I shouldn't even quite say it that way. Most of us ain't used to struggle. Those of us who I be talking to for the most part, we very much used to struggle.

1:13.3

We just not used to see it.

1:14.3

Other people struggle with us in ways that still preserve their privilege, but we got a lot to unpack today. So I want to start, however, with something that happened on my show yesterday. yesterday we had representative jasmine crockett back on and she was really letting us know

1:30.3

what is happening when it comes to the government shutdown, which we're going to talk about

1:33.7

extensively this afternoon. But she also broke some news that in light of the fact that her district

1:39.7

is being redrawn, she is also now currently evaluating whether or not she should consider running for

1:46.7

Senate. There is a Senate race that is happening in the state of Texas, quite frankly, next year

1:51.4

during the midterm elections. Every single one of the 435 members of the House of Representatives

1:57.2

are going to be up for vote. And of the senators 33 of the 100 senators will

2:02.8

also be up for a vote so there's a lot of potential power shifting on the line and so when jasmine

2:07.8

crockett representative from the great state of texas came on the show and said the following

2:12.7

it raised a lot of eyebrows take a listen Now, you mentioned this district and you have noted

2:18.4

previously that your district has been redrawn. Do you plan to continue running to represent

2:23.5

in the district that you will now be located in? I have no idea where I'll run. These are my three

2:30.3

options. Currently, we're waiting on the court to come down with a final opinion as to

2:36.3

whether or not these lines will go into effect immediately or not. Our filing period is about to

2:41.5

open. So they only have a little bit more time because you got to know where you're running.

2:46.9

So we're expecting that we're going to get a court ruling here shortly on whether or not the lines go into effect for this election.

2:55.2

So the lines may say like they are, which means nothing changes about my district.

2:59.1

They may change to what was signed into law.

3:01.7

And that means that I would be moved into another district.
