As Latinas, it's a common thread in our lives, in our family's histories.

But for Diana Trujillo, a better life in a different place didn't just bring her to the United States.

She works at NASA, where she's one of the flight directors for NASA's Perseverance Rover, which is looking for signs of past life on Mars.

I want to start with the women in your family because it seems to me that the entire trajectory of your life is informed by your mom and by the women who raised you.

My mom, my grandma, my great grandma, and in general,

my grandma's sisters, my cousins, this was a group of women that would get together on my grandma's house, which was a block away from my house. And we will always have, you know, a cafecito in the

kitchen. They will talk about their marriage life.

What was going on with their husband, what was going on with their kids.

And it was funny because all of them were older women.

And I think that the only kid was me and sometimes my mom's cousin.
