Summary

In part two we reminisce John Wayne's movies made from 1952 to 1976- ending with his big screen goodbye- the Shootist. We'll talk about his appearance on 'A Colonial Christmas in Williamsburg with Perry Como" in the months before his death, his two battles with cancer, and the backstory on 'The High and The Mighty', 'The Shootist', and 'The Cowboys'- plus I'll name my 8 favorite John Wayne Movies. I also do my best to explain why I believe boys benefit much more from outdoor contact with other boys than indoor computer games- using the simple reasoning that the challenges they face trying to get to the next level in a computer game don't prepare them for the challenges, large and small, that they face in real life- such as getting along with friends, dealing with bullies, choosing the right friends, learning the values of honesty, integrity, interacting with girls, learning that practice makes perfect in any kind of sports, showing gameness and courage- and the list goes on. 1:41.9	Haggadorn. Although I grew up in California, I spent most of my adult life in
1:46.6	Virginia. Most of you probably heard of Colonial Williamsburg. It's a very
1:51.0	popular international tourist destination and does very well with its portrayal of
1:55.8	colonial American history. In early November of 1978, Perry Como did a Christmas
2:01.6	special in Williamsburg and invited John Wayne and Diane Canova as guests. Although
2:07.5	Perry Como was popular at the time, huge crowds poured in just to see John Wayne.
2:12.8	It was a huge event and received coverage in all the local papers. John Wayne
2:18.4	tended to draw crowds like that wherever he went. Those people in Williamsburg
2:22.8	in November of 1978 had no clue that John Wayne had less than one year to live. He
