Welcome to the Bone Yard with Steve Roberts and as always I am your good friend and host Steve Roberts and here on the Maroon Friday edition of the yard if you're a jeans page.com subscriber and you certainly should be. I've already posted some maroon bones probably kind of an expanded edition. I started writing and couldn't stop. I guess I went about 11100 words. So not your typical updates. I got a little

more in-depth. And shared some things I've learned here as of late. So you can go check that out. And the bones, of course, are about recruiting. Mississippi State's recruiting. We'll get into some of that later in the show. A lot to talk about. It's an important day in our nation's history. there's some things that have happened in recent days that have

I don't know if I would say irritated me

but that It's an important day in our nation's history. There's some things that have happened in recent days that have, I don't know if I would say irritated me, but they've caused me to maybe frown just a bit. And so I'm going to talk a little bit about that. I'm not going to spend a lot of time talking about all that sort of stuff. But be that as it may, we had to football last night, Kansas City with Chris Jones and Willie Gay. It's a big win to open the season. And I tell you, now they've got Cloud Edwards-Hillard's, you begin to think, goodness, could Kansas City's offense have been any better? And now you think Patrick Mahomes might be even better with a consistent running threat. I thought Clyde-Hale-Edwards great last night. Kn known Clyde a long time. He and my oldest daughter went to school for many years, and he was among her best friends when they were growing up. And so we're really happy for him. I've talked about the show before, even though he played at OSU, always pulled for him. Even I wanted to beat them. I wanted him to have a good game.

And a great young man from a great family. It's great to see him have some success. And to see Chris Jones pick up a couple sacks last night. Willie Gay, of course, made his NFL debut. We've got a lot to be excited about. If you're Mississippi State fans, you've got a lot to to cheer for when it comes to pro sports.

1:44.6

You know, we hadn't always been in this situation,

1:46.8

and I say we enjoy it as long as we can. I don't know how long all this is going to last, and so I'm going to enjoy every single minute of it. I want to remind you two are our good friends at Bulldog Burger Company, long-time sponsors of the show, man, and with good reason. Had Bulldog burger company a couple days ago it is great

2:01.9

Ian and the crew there do a wonderful job you're not going to find a better place to break

2:06.6

bread and star gwell than the bulldog burger company and the best thing about it is there's

2:10.3

so much range there what I mean by that is it could be date night it could be friends night

2:15.9

it could be family night you can do whatever you want to do. You can have adult beverage. You can have a chocolate shake to go. You can have a hamburger. You can have a great salad. You can have a lot of different things. But you've got to have the spring rolls. I mean, there's no reason not to. If you're going to go to Bulldog Burger Company, you've got to get to spring rolls. It's kind of like, you know, on your way to the ballgame, you've got to stop by and do a little Bulldog shopping. Same thing. When you go to Bulldog Burger Company, it would almost be sacrilege to not get the spring rolls. Bulldog Burger Company, two locations now to serve you. The flagship right here on University Drive in Stard, Vegas, and on Gloucester

2:51.5

Street and Tupelo. Great people, great food, great prices, great atmosphere, you're going to love

2:56.8

it, Bulldog Burger Company, the place where people go to meet, M-E-A-T. So, I would be remiss.

3:04.3

It's been, I tell you, it's been one of those days today that, you know, it's the 19 year anniversary of 9-11.

3:12.9

And there's been a lot of people that have posted their remembrances and that sort of stuff.

3:17.0

And I'm going to talk a little bit about some of that.

3:19.4

Because I think there's some lessons that we learned then that maybe we have forgotten since that we need to be reminded of. And so I've seen these things today. I saw him in Portnoy put out a finger painting thing that he did. And I forget sometimes how much younger these guys on the beat are than me. Now that Dave Murray's moved to North Carolina, I guess I'm the old man. I'm the old man. Nobody's been on the beat longer than me, I guess

3:40.8

Paul Jones, and, you know, we're at the same age. And so I guess we're now the salty

3:47.1

veterans. But be that as it may, 9-11, like all of you, was one of those things we never saw

3:54.8

coming. And there were some people in hindsight and said,

3:57.7

you know what, we probably should have seen this coming. But it was a horrific day. I remember I was

4:03.4

getting dressed for work and I always had the news on those days. I never watch the news anymore
