Welcome to our Rosary.

Let's begin by calling to mind that we're ever in the presence of Almighty God

in whom we live and move and have our being.

We call upon Him in the name of the Father and of the

son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. We offer up this Rosary tonight for the

repose of the soul of Tony Barlogio, the future Father-in-law of my

nephew. Our Rosary is entitled Relics, Miracles and Faith.

In today's Gospel Jesus makes his way to Genesaret a town near Capernum where he lived. He's mobbed as soon as he arrives and were

told that the villagers begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his

cloak and as many as touched it were healed. The books of

0:45.2

numbers in Deuteronomy in the Old Testament required the Israelites to sew

0:50.6

tassels on their garments, to look upon and remember the

commandments of the Lord and to do them, and not follow their own sinful inclinations.

So when the people of the region of Janesaret touched the tassels on Jesus'

garment, they were being reminded of two things, to have faith in the Lord and

to be morally upright as the sign of their faith.

So we see demonstrated here faith, moral goodness, and grace flowing from Jesus through his

1:22.0

garments.

This latter reality is what we call relics or objects that are sanctified by touching Christ.

These are still a means of grace for us when we approach with faith and moral goodness.
