Summary
Featuring an exclusive author interview with David Beers, author of 'Reign of Injustice'. On Sept. 12 2001, Michele Harris, the wife of a well-to-do auto dealership owner in Upstate N.Y., went missing. She has never been found, and the mystery surrounding her disappearance remains. Four years after she went missing, her husband Cal Harris was arrested and charged with murder. With neither a body or a murder weapon, the verdict surprised many. New evidence emerged that shifted attention to another possible suspect within hours after his first trial, yet his prosecution downplayed the new evidence, not wanting to give up on their shaky theory that Cal killed his wife. The conviction was overturned and a new trail was granted. This time he was convicted for 25 years to life- on the same flimsy evidence which was used in the first trial. That conviction was appealed and overturned.

| 0:39.6 | great to have you with us today. Story ideas come to me from many different |
| 0:44.0 | directions and this one came in the form of a book sent to me by an old friend |
| 0:48.0 | of investor New York outside of Binghamton. My friend Tom knows that my |
| 0:52.8 | distant relatives hail from the area around Spencer New York. He and his kids |
| 0:57.4 | spent part of a day with me a few years ago hunting down information and a |
| 1:01.0 | few gravestones around the area known as Hagenorn Hill. He sent the book |
| 1:05.4 | to me along with a letter that read in part. It's strange to read a book where |
| 1:09.1 | you know most everyone in the book as well as the locations. We know the |
| 1:13.2 | senior investigator for the New York State Police in his story and I went to |
| 1:16.9 | school with the author. Public opinion had Cal Harris a car dealer tried and |
| 1:22.2 | convicted before he was arrested. I admit that since Cal Harris and his wife |
| 1:26.4 | were headed for a divorce I was one of the people who thought he was guilty but |
| 1:30.6 | I also know this author and he's one of the most honest true blue people you'll |
| 1:34.7 | ever meet a solid citizen. After six years as a Marine he joined the New York |
| 1:39.5 | State Police and worked his way up to investigator. He later left the NYSP |
| 1:44.2 | became a private investigator and it was he who was hired to represent Cal |
| 1:48.3 | Harris. I thought of you John because the Hagenorn name is still visible up |
| 1:52.3 | here and as you know there's a Hagenorn Hill road which features heavily in |
| 1:56.4 | the story so I thought you might be interested and that ended Tom's letter. I've |
