All right, we're going to take Daniel chapter one today, and we did an overview last time,

kind of an introduction to the book and the structure and the outline and the three different

sieges in Jerusalem and what Nebuchadnezzar was trying to accomplish and what really the Lord

was using Nebuchadnezzar for is his instrument of judgment upon Israel.

And these three sieges.

And so we'll dive into the book today in chapter one where Daniel and his three friends are taken captive and drug off to Babylon in this first siege. So there's a, there are a lot of great

lessons here in Daniel one about just simply refusing the world and

I just want you to get the picture of Daniel as this young Jewish man who has grown up in

Israel but is captive by a foreign enemy drug off to a land that he's never been to. They speak a language. He doesn't know.

They're eating food that he's not familiar with. He's captive in this prison. And he has every reason

to accept what the king is trying to give him. And he denies it because it goes against what God

wants him to do. And so we're going to learn a lot about this or through this event.

And I hope it's encouraging to you on refusing what the enemy would offer you out of this world in our lives today because it's very applicable.

So let's pray.

Father, I thank you so much for this time together and god i just pray that you

would bless our study in your word this morning as we go through daniel chapter one god i thank you for

preserving this book for us lord as you told daniel in chapter 12 to seal up the book until the time of the end and father we're here we've we have

made it to this point we're all the way thousands of years in the future in 2026 and lord this book is

every bit as applicable and exciting to study today as it was when you wrote it through Daniel all those

centuries ago. And so, Father, I just pray that these lessons would not be wasted on us, that,

God, you would use them to build up our most holy faith on your word, Lord, because of Romans

1017. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. And
