Summary

Does it feel like everyone else (but you) is going on fancy vacations all the time? Will your spring break look more like a staycation than a sandy beach? Social media seems to make it worse, but the envy that arises when looking at someone else’s vacay pics is as old as time! In this episode, Meagan and Sarah are busting some common travel myths and talking about how to deal with the feelings that sometimes pop up when all your people are (seemingly) jetting off to one fun destination after another. We also chat about how to make memories closer to home and how being intentional about stepping outside your normal routine can matter way more than the dollars you spend. If you need some downtime–minus the guilt or a giant price tag–this episode is for you.

tips and encouragement. And remind you that it's really all gonna be okay. We're

with Megan Francis. Hey, Megan. Hi, Sarah. So we are talking about travel

0:34.8

today by way of talking about not traveling. What do you think about this, which

0:40.4

means we're gonna have to talk about some amount of traveling to then, you know,

0:45.2

juxtapose it against the not traveling parts of our lives. But I think

0:50.7

travel FOMO is something that a lot of people can relate to. And I think this

0:54.4

time of year, it can be particularly intense. I think coming out of a not

0:58.2

coming out of a pandemic, becoming out of maybe the most intense portion of the

1:02.0

pandemic where things do feel like they're opening up, it can intensify it

1:05.4

because just because like it seems like you could go someplace doesn't mean you

1:09.2

actually can or want to right now. So and I also just think FOMO about like the

1:16.2

idea of these wonderful family, you know, bonding experiences via travel is

1:22.5

one of those things that's like pervasive in our social media world, right? So it is.

1:29.3

It is and I as we were preparing this episode and yes, we're gonna talk about FOMO,

1:34.2

the fear of missing out, especially as it relates to travel and vacations. And when it feels

1:38.6

like everybody else is doing it and maybe you're not and we're gonna unpack all of that today.
