1:15.5	we knew about these women has been surmised on thin evidence at best.
1:21.8	Thousands of hours, and who knows how many resources, have been spent trying to identify
1:27.4	the killer or killers who we've come to know as Jack the Ripper.
1:33.5	But in her work, Halle Rubenold has taken a different path, an assertion that perhaps
1:40.4	trying to identify Jack the Ripper will not answer our questions or solve our problems.
1:48.0	Because much as in the case of Samuel Little, it's not so much about the killer as it
1:53.0	is about the victims, how they were portrayed, the thin line they walked between housing
1:59.0	insecurity and outright homelessness, and the bleak structures of Victorian society that
2:04.7	limited their freedoms and dictated their actions.
2:08.1	It made the margins wide, and the pedestals very high and very narrow.
