Summary

We have Dr. Timothy Witmer with us today, and what a story he has to tell! Dr. Witmer is an author and Westminster Theological Seminary professor of Practical Theology. He's also a "Moses" figure for leading St. Stephen Reformed Church, a once United Church of Christ church, to the PCA (or "Promised Land", though Carl & Aimee may beg to differ with Todd on that!). Being a preacher and a teacher of preachers for many years, Dr. Witmer lends a seasoned perspective from the podium to the pulpit and shares the tale leading a congregation to Reformed theology. What a good reminder to us all how God chooses to use his people as a means to fulfill his kingdom purpose. The Alliance has a few of copies of "The Shepherd Leader" by Tim Whitmer that we are giving away. Today it is our good pleasure to have with us a friend, Dr. Timothy Whitmer, or as we know him, Tim, is with us. Tim is the professor of

practical theology at Westminster Theological Seminary. He is also author of some really helpful

books, The Shepherd Leader and the Shepherd Leader at home. And if that's not enough, he is also

1:08.5

pastor at St. Stephen Reform Church in New Holland, which is in Lancaster County, here in the Philadelphia, greater Philadelphia metropolitan area. He also has a website. It's called real Donald Trump.org. No, just kidding. It is the shepherdleader.org. And so, Tim, you've got all kinds of things to explain.

1:31.2

Clearly, the church is keeping you busy.

1:33.0

But there's a lot of things that we would love to talk to Tim about.

1:35.6

Of course, anytime we have a colleague of Carl Truman, we have condolences to express.

1:40.1

Well, thank you very much.

1:41.0

I appreciate that.

1:41.8

We feel your pain.

1:42.5

We just feel bad for you.

1:44.0

And also admire the fact that you have stuck it out so long with him. But Tim, it's great to have you here. Lots of things we can talk with you about from preaching to pastoring to this wonderful kind of new chapter in your life of St. Stephen's Reformed Church. So we'll try to hit on

2:02.7

various things there. But Carl and Amy, where do we want to take, in this particular journey,

2:09.0

where do we want to take Tim first? Where do we want to walk with him? Yes, yes. Yes. Well, I have a

2:15.1

journey story with Tim. Okay. Good.

2:23.1

So I first met you two years ago at the first Westminster Preacher's Conference, and I was a little intimidated to come here as a housewife theologian, and to be on the panel.

2:28.1

And when we were asked to do it, I remember telling the guys, you know, you're pastors,

2:33.2

I'm not.
