Thank you for joining us. Let's get this conversation started. Hey everybody. This week, we're re-releasing a conversation between Dr. Dan Allender and Dr. Steve Call, a therapist and affiliate faculty member at the Seattle School of Theology

and Psychology. With love in the air and our intimate mystery conference coming up in a few weeks,

all of us here at the Allender Center are thinking about our styles of relating and our relationships.

So we thought this special episode might speak to you in this season,

whether you're single,

in a relationship, married, divorced, or somewhere in between. In this conversation, Dan and

Steve take a deep look at the impact of unaddressed harm and shame in the context of a marriage,

how couples can learn to navigate their stories and ultimately reconnect. As you'll hear Steve say,

reconnecting is not a one and done thing, but a lifelong journey that requires us to wrestle

with the impact of trauma and the ways our stories are present with us.

Steve and I, over many years, taught a class on marriage and family at the Seattle School theology and psychology.

And we have been over a decade fishing partners. We will not

describe or tell you where we fish in Montana. But nonetheless, Steve, to have you on this

podcast is a great pleasure. And you have written a phenomenally excellent book on marriage that I want people to know.
