Every day the app sends you five invitations to stop and think about death. The app is inspired by the boutonise folks saying to be a happy person one must contemplate death five times daily.

One of the things that makes us most unhappy is we tend to get caught up in things that don't matter. We tend to get caught up in an angry voice or in minutia or in stress.

There are tons of things that ultimately aren't that important to us and when we remember or mortality we can take a deep breath and just go, oh, I don't have to think about this. I don't have to engage. I don't have time for this.

Burgwall says he used to struggle with tech addiction. He and his co-founder intentionally designed it to have no advertising and no social media hooks.

We were looking for something to basically bring us back to ourselves. We resisted every other baller whistle we could possibly add and got emails by the way from people saying like you're doing it wrong.
