Chase, welcome to podcasting Made Simple.

Alex, thanks for having me on the show. It's a treat to be with you. Man, I'm really excited about this. You wrote an incredible book titled Never Play It Safe. And that's what we're talking about today. And I want to kind of get some context here. First off, when I read the book, man, you've got so many quotables in it.

0:54.7

I don't know if that's like the proper term, but like one-liners, things that I underline, highlight and like circled a bunch of times. And man, this is just, it's an incredible gift that you created here. So I first and foremost just want to say thank you for putting this together. And I think that what we're going to put into the world today with this conversation is really going to serve the podcast hosts and guests who listen. So again, man,

1:13.9

just thank you so much for doing this. Awesome. Well, my love language is utility. So I want to be

1:19.5

useful. And I'm a fan of the show and having, you know, been on both sides of the microphone in

1:26.7

and around podcast since 2009. My goal would be

1:30.1

to be really useful. And there are some good lessons from my latest book. So I won't hesitate to share.

1:36.0

Thanks, man. I appreciate that. I didn't realize 2009. You're like a real OG in the podcasting space.

1:39.8

It wasn't even called podcasting. I had some other recordings up on the Apple platform then, and it was a, you used to get charged for more downloads.

1:49.3

And so the more successful your show would be, you essentially got penalized for it.

1:53.2

So, yeah, it was an interesting, it was the Wild West early on, but been doing it for a long time.

And I think I've taken a few licks along the way. That's what these dark circles under my eyes are from, but plenty to share and eager to, eager to help. Cool, man. That's great. Thanks for paving the way and for making it no longer you pay for your podcast. I wouldn't have as many listeners. So thank you for paying the way. Exactly, right. I remember. And there was a video podcast that, you know, you had to pay for throughput on the downloads. And I was like, oh, note to self, do not do that anymore. That's expensive. And shortly thereafter, they changed it. But, you know, I think the takeaway from all this stuff is regardless of how long you've been doing it,

2:34.8

you know, that we're in such a world today that it's very, very dynamic.

2:39.0

Things are always changing.

2:40.4

There's, for every door that closes, there's two doors that open.

2:43.5

And that's what I want your listeners to focus on.

2:45.4

Like, now don't let people tell you that anything's played out.

2:49.0

You have your niche.
