We are always delighted to get ideas, recommendations, suggestions on various topics to address.

And we got one that was interesting.

We actually, we've gotten more than just

one that's interesting, but one that we thought we'd tackle today is a request to talk about

reverence, reverence in our worship, reverence in our time together on the Lord's Day, preaching,

music, et cetera. But how do we approach reverence together in our worship?

And I thought, well, that's a good topic.

Considering the fact that the three of us together are not always the most reverent bunch,

we thought this would be a good thing for us to kick around a bit and to think about some of the implications.

So Carl and Amy, as we think about

reverence, I suppose one thing that we'd want to do is maybe try to define our terms a little bit.

What do we mean when we say reverence or reverent or reverend? I insist on being called reverend in

my home, for instance. I think part of it is understanding how we should approach God as God in an appropriate manner.

Reverence is not a given in some ways.

There are always going to be some cultural and social aspects to how one

understands reverence. But the Bible tells us Hebrews 1228 that we're to offer God acceptable worship
