It's a phenomenon that has plagued many of us,

especially in today's fast-paced, hyper-connected world.

But fear not, for in the midst of burnout there lies an opportunity

for renewal and transformation so I'm going to talk a little bit about that also.

But first, let's define burnout.

Burnout is not simply just feeling tired or stressed.

Its formal definition is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress and overwork.

It may also be difficult to recognize or diagnose because we may be in

positions where we feel like we have to keep going, like when parenting or

demanding job. Burnout can manifest itself in various ways from feelings of

irritability, cynicism, and detachment and also physical symptoms such as headaches, fatigue and insomnia.

A good way to determine if you're experiencing burnout is to simply ask yourself a couple of specific questions.

Do you find yourself feeling depleted and drained

even after a full night's sleep?

Are you experiencing irritability, cynicism, or a lack of motivation in your work or personal life?
