about the trade deadline that's what everyone's talking about obviously the biggest news for our

cast fan is the trade for kevin shattinckart What do you think? Well, I think it was the absolute perfect move to make for this team. And I've been saying it for a few years that they drastically needed to add another top four type of defenseman that was right-handed. It would be a boon to the power play. And they got that exactly in Shattonkirk, an unrestricted free agent this summer,

but you don't have to worry about that right now. What they have to worry about is getting the

power play going, getting a lot better looks, better on the breakout. And then just a simple

puck movement, five on five. Shattonkirk is a very efficient passer. It doesn't have a whole lot

of zap or wow to his game, but he is a very good player.

He doesn't waste energy. He's excellent without the puck. Play for Ken Hitchcock a long time, a very demanding defensive details type of coach.

And he comes here and he has another details coach in Tard Rurden, who I think will also help him elevate his level of play. And when I look

at the defense that this team has now, it's very formidable. And I love having right-handed,

left-handed defense pairings on all three units. I think it goes tactically so much better for

your team. And it's a great strategy to use just getting the puck out of the zone. I prefer

tape-to-ta-tape passes. I don't like using the boards all the time like you have to do when you're on your off defensive side, say a left-hand is shot on the right side. You can get into a lot of trouble. You throw a lot of tough passes. You're easier to forecheck. And I've seen it be the demise of a lot of players in the playoffs,

having to play on that offside,
