It's Thursday, April 9th. We are going to go over the morning testimony in the penalty phase for

Tanner Horner. He admitted to killing seven-year-old Athena Strand and disposed of her body in a creek.

He pleaded guilty the day his trial was set to start, but since he's up

for death, we're essentially having the trial because the jury has to hear the weight of the evidence

to be able to go back there and decide if he gets life or death. So let's jump right back in.

Up on the stand this morning again was Job Espinoza. He's a Texas Ranger. Ranger Espinosa said he had been playing along with

this zero dude for around six hours at this point. And other than Tanner telling where her body

was after lying about the bamboo forest, he still had not been truthful. He gave numerous versions

of what happened, including what happened to her clothing, and whether or not she was clothed.

He explains in some interview footage, we're going to see that he's still talking to zero.

But at one point in the interview, Tanner pretends to come out of this zero persona.

The only time the witness is getting the truth is when he is talking to zero.

So he asked to talk to zero, and he says that anytime you ask Zero to reappear, he does.

He said when Tanner wants a cigarette,

or they talk about how Tanner wanted to leave Athena at the crime scene,

which would be when he said he backed into her on the property,

he acts like Tanner.

But when he's asked about specifics of the crime, only Zero will talk.

When he talks about his kids, is Tanner.

But when they challenge him on his story at Zero.

Too many shenanigans, y'all.
