and it's on a really popular topic at the moment of

Raboa. Delighted to say, I've got two great guests with me. Well, actually, I'll let them

introduce themselves. Simon, thanks so much for having me back on the show. I'm Safkassim.

I trained and worked as an emergency medicine consultant in the UK before moving across the

pond to Baltimore's shock trauma

center to do a trauma and critical care fellowship a few years ago. And now I work in the

emergency department of a level one trauma center in the state of Delaware, which is just north

of Maryland, where I'm the lead physician on the Roboa program there. I'm Sam Sadek. I am an A&E consultant in the Royal London Hospital in the UK and I work

with London's Air Ambulance, Essex and Hearts Air Ambulance.

And I lead our project on Roboah for the A&E department and the pre-hospital department

together with Garif Davies and we work

very closely with the rest of the hospital.

So there have been a couple of podcasts that have been out already and in fact Zaf you've

been part of one of them but I think if you're listening to this podcast without having heard

the podcast on Roboah on ERCast and on MCcrit, which we'll put the links to in the show

notes, it'll be a really good idea to go there because they've got some great interviews and some

great stuff and summaries of what Robo is. But does one of you want to lead in with a quick

summary of what Robo is? So a quick rundown, resuscitative endovascular balloon inclusion of the aorta is essentially

a different approach to the management of torso hemorrhage, and that's bleeding in areas like the

abdomen or the pelvis. So by placing a catheter into the aorta via the femoral artery,

you can inflate a balloon above that point of bleeding and essentially internally cross-clamp the aorta.
