I'm Ben McCallery. And welcome to the third of the summer slash winter series. In today's

episode, we come back to one of the most fun conversations I've had

all year with Rebecca Sullivan. So Rebecca is the founder of Granny Skills and she is awesome. She's

just awesome. You know those conversations you have with someone you've never spoken

to them before and you just hit it off? And look, I don't know if the feeling was mutual,

but I've decided that Rebecca and I will meet one day and we will be best friends.

Absolutely. I've never heard someone have so much fun talking about the benefits of bi-carb soda.

It's fun. It's fun stuff. It must be. You discussed everything, didn't you, about her awesome book. And I remember getting a copy of this and we were just like, oh, this is so good. I just loved going through it. And yeah,

it's all about granny skills, isn't it? Well, it mean, it is. The art of the natural home is,

in my head, before I got a copy of it, I knew that it would be lovely and I knew it would be full of

really practical, kind of traditional recipes for things around the home.

I didn't expect it to have so many awesome recipes and to have something cool like a cocktail

garden. Rebecca suggests your plant in order to make beautiful cocktails. It's just a gorgeous

book. And Rebecca is like clearly the person who has written this gorgeous book

because she's just brilliant and wonderful.

And she shares a lot about her own journey into this whole, I guess,

learning how to value traditional skills because that certainly wasn't her background.

And to hear how she made this huge shift over a number of years to become someone who not only

values but champions and advocates for traditional skills to the point where she created a pilot

program to bring grandparents into high schools
