| 0:00.0 | Hey, gang, Carl White here, broadcasting actually here in the studios today at the |
| 0:12.0 | Mortgage Marketing Animals. And I'm going to go right into this. I got a very dear friend of |
| 0:16.2 | mine, long, long, longtime friend, Mr. Brian Stevens himself. And what we're going to talk about, I think I'm |
| 0:22.5 | going to title this, what now? And Brian, you and I were just talking right before we hit the |
| 0:30.6 | record button. And one of us said something like, they moved our cheese. Who moved my cheese? |
| 0:36.5 | So what we're going to talk about is this new |
| 0:40.6 | this newest well here Brian explain you know so much more about this and I do explain explain |
| 0:46.9 | what we're talking about here today well there's a class action lawsuit that was filed |
| 0:51.9 | against the National Association of Realtors and all the large |
| 0:54.3 | brokerages out there. And the premise is that there's been collusion that has taken place over the years |
| 0:59.4 | to keep our commissions artificially high at around 5 or 6%. It what they were saying 6% but now |
| 1:07.4 | they're kind of 5 or 6% speaking of moving cheese yeah which i which i found |
| 1:11.7 | pretty interesting because in the deposition of gary keller just a couple of days ago before um uh this was |
| 1:17.5 | settled gary keller said he goes well commissions have never been six percent because they i think they |
| 1:22.1 | were for one year back in 2009 or 10 when people were you know we talked about the last time around in |
| 1:26.5 | 2008 the last downturn when people wanted to get rid of we talked about the last time around in 2008, the last down turn, |
| 1:28.5 | when people wanted to get rid of their house at all cost and were willing to pay higher commissions, |
| 1:32.8 | at that point, commissions were real estate agents actually ebbed above on average over 6%. |
| 1:36.8 | But that's really the only time. |
| 1:38.6 | It's always been below 6%. |
| 1:40.3 | So my thinking is if we're talking about collusion and real estate commissions being at 6% and being kept artificially high, I would say that's easily provable to be inaccurate case dismissed, problem solved. We know that to not be true. Yet that's not what's taken place. So the National Association of realtors and all the large brokerages out there just lost a lawsuit to the tune of, I don't know, 77, 71, 72 billion dollars or no, no, excuse me, $1.7 billion, but there's another lawsuit that's coming on the heels of this one, which they're staring down the barrel at $40 billion. |
| 2:14.7 | These companies don't have this money, by the way. I don't know if everybody, |
