and I'm here with Surprise, our intrepid producer, Jesse Brennaman. Hi, Jesse. Hey, Sam. Nice to hear your

voice. Nice to be here on this side of the paywall. I don't think I've ever been in the intro before.

Yeah, it's really nice out here. It's air conditionedconditioned. On the other side of the paywall,

it's dank and disgusting and unpleasant. You keep the lights dim just to keep me focused. I do love

what you've done out here. You've got a lot of nice mid-century style furniture. It's not authentic.

I can see that at three productions, but... It's way fair. But still not cheap. Not nothing. I am glad to be here with Jesse. And the reason

I'm here with Jesse is that we're introducing an episode from behind the paywall to the rest of you.

And it is an episode we recorded in December of last year about the really strange and really

quite bad Reagan movie. Yeah. I don't want to say much because it all comes up

in the episode, but it is a truly phantasmagorical, surreal journey into the dying mind of

Reagan-era conservatism. Starring Dennis Quaid and some other unfortunate souls. And the reason

we're doing this is, for one, because it's a

really fun and good episode featuring both Matt and Jesse and me, all of us, and because,

well, you know, it's a pretty bleak time right now in our politics. It's not great. Possibly

the White House is basically sending the

military into our major cities. We'll have more to say about that soon, but we thought you might

want something a little lighter to take your mind off of that, and also because we are,

also for the main feed, busy planning out absorbing the cinder block of a book

that our friend Sam Tannenhouse has written about the patron saint of this podcast, William F. Buckley,

Jr. And that episode will be out shortly. But it's taking some effort on our part to figure out how to condense that

1,000-page book into a delicious Know Your Enemy morsel. Of course, we'll have Sam on the podcast
