The Prophet Jeremiah didn't feel equipped to fulfill his God-given mission, but God-

appointed Jeremiah long before his birth, and in fact, God empowered Jeremiah with all the tools

he needed to triumph.

It's a beautiful Old Testament story that unfolded on our last program.

Today, on Insight for Living, Chuck Swindall turns our attention to the New Testament,

to answer a question that's common to anyone who wants to replicate Jeremiah's experience.

How do we discern God's will when he's both invisible and silent?

Chuck titled today's message, Reading God's Mysterious Lips.

Now, from Jeremiah, let's land on Ephesians chapter 5 again.

Do a little bit of analysis of the 17th verse and then focus our attention on some guidelines

that will help us, I hope, in this process of learning how to fly free.

Ephesians 5, verse 15, therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise, making the most of your time, which is a wonderful

rendering of the original thought of redeeming the time, making the most of your time because the

days are evil. So then, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. In the King James version,

I believe this was originally rendered unwise. Do not be unwise. It's from the Greek word Afrone,

APH, R-O-N, a long O, Afrone. It means to be without reason, means to be senseless,

foolish, which is the way the new American standard renders it means to be stupid.

Thick is the Old Testament word for it.

I've always liked that rendering, just thick.

I read somewhere that diets are for people who are thick and tired of it.

So then do not be thick. It conveys the idea of acting
