Do you ever wonder why God makes his will so challenging to comprehend?

I mean, why doesn't he speak from heaven with an audible voice and just tell us what he wants us to do?

Those are fair questions that deserve answers.

Chuck Swindall continues his series about the mystery of God's will. In this next study,

we'll examine how he spoke to an Old Testament prophet named Jeremiah. His story will offer clues on how to discern the sometimes inaudible voice of God.

Back in the, about mid-70s, I went in for tympanoplasty.

That is surgery done on the ear, my case, the right ear.

I was born with a congenital hole in my ear that time worked against me on, and as time passed, this hole enlarged. I remember as a little

baby, my mother said to me as she said as you were a tiny baby in the crib, your ear would

run and there would obviously be infection there. And if that hole ever got plugged up, which

it somewhat

frequently did, it was a terrible experience. If you have a child or you yourself have gone through

it, the letting out that pus and the lancing of the ear and all that. So I went through that

the horror of that growing up. So by the time I had reached my late 30s and early 40s, it was obvious that some of the

hearing was leaving that ear, and the hole had gotten larger.

And every time I swam, it would give me trouble because all the water wouldn't get out

of it.

And I spent my time.

I learned if I could hold my head over one side and for one, for some reason, you dance

on one leg.
