Today's tip is to read the free sample. With e-books, it is often possible to give a book a try before buying it.

This might nudge you to be a more adventurous reader.

After all, you might wind up liking the book, or you might not.

But then you've saved yourself some money and clutter.

So I know some folks hate... and clutter.

So I know some folks hate reading on screens. It's not my favorite either, but it is also so convenient

that I think it's worthwhile.

With e-book apps like Amazon's Kindle,

you can read on your phone and turn any downtime

or waiting time into reading time. That's good in its own right, but I've also

realized a little hack for making sure you are mostly buying e-books that you like.

If you were in a bookstore, you would be able to pick a book up and read a few pages to see if it was appealing. To approximate this, Amazon allows you to download a free sample of many e-books through the Kindle

app.

This is often a fairly generous sample, like 10 to 15 percent of the actual book.
