0:10.0	I'm Patrick Miller. In the book of Ecclesiasties the author calls himself
0:16.8	the preacher and he describes everything that he's learned by carefully
0:20.7	observing the human condition.
0:23.0	There's one thing that he observes that he calls a kind of chaos.
0:26.0	He actually calls it evil, and evil can mean both moral evil or this chaotic thing
0:30.0	you can't control and it's not good, it's not bad it's just chaotic and he says
0:34.6	that that chaotic thing is that the same fate often meets both the wise and the
0:39.4	foolish both the good and the evil he says this in Ecclesiasties 214.
0:45.0	The wise have their eyes in their heads while the fools walk in darkness.
0:49.4	But I came to realize that the same fate overtakes them both. And later he says this, Ecclesies 9.3,
0:55.8	this is the evil, the chaos, in everything that happens under the sun.
1:00.9	The same destiny overtakes us all. That's not to say that wisdom is no better than
1:06.4	foolishness or that righteousness is no better than wickedness. Again and again the preacher says that
1:11.6	wisdom and goodness are the better path, but he's not
1:14.6	deluded about reality. Both the wise and the fool end up in the grave.
1:20.3	Worse yet, sometimes the evil one is given great treasure and the righteous one is stripped of everything that he has.
1:26.0	The preacher says in Ecclesiase he's 10-7,
1:29.0	I have seen slaves on horses and princes walking on the ground like slaves. Some people want to treat
1:35.5	ecclesiasties like it's the work of sinning and that everything he describes
