realignment's feed on Saturdays.

As listeners know, I love the fact that a huge part of my job is hopping on a mic with people who've written, thought about, or even recorded something particularly compelling or interesting to reference the title.

So as I've been getting more and more pitches from publishers, I've just come across

a bunch of books and authors that are incredibly compelling but don't quite fit into the realignment's

main focus on policy, politics, and history.

So with this new show, Ari something interesting, I want to build a space for books and

authors that will definitely hit on the lives and experiences of listeners, but also speak to the

narratives and shifting culture of the US and the world in the 20-20s.

Once again, I'll publish these every Saturday. First up I've got the author and

journalist Max Marshall who has just released his first book among the bros

a fraternity crime story. The book's about a massive college fraternity drug ring in the

south that pushed Xanax and other drugs up and down the eastern seaboard.

Max reported from the College of Charleston to get the full story, but in this conversation we zoom

out to discuss the positives and negatives of frats, revisit the 2010's bro culture, and explore the many ways that Xanax and other anti-anxiety drugs

were the elite equivalent on the other end of the spectrum of the drugs that

fueled the opioid crisis.

Max is Austin based, so I was really pumped to record this episode in person,

something I want to do more often.
