Today's episode though is with the authors John B Judas and Roy Teshara, authors of a new book

Where Have All the Democrats Gone, The Soul of the Party and the Age of Extremes.

John and Roy famously wrote a book called The Emerging Democratic Majority back in 2002 that

argued that the new 21st century Democratic Party Coalition, professionals,

minorities, young people, and a decent chunk of the white working class vote

would dominate American politics the way Reagan to find the 1980s.

On a couple of levels, especially during the Obama and the Trump eras, this obviously did not come to pass,

and their new book explores the party's challenges leading into the 2024 elections

and takes a look back at why their prescription

and diagnosis of American politics didn't come to pass over the 20 years

since the publication of the original book. I was going to release this episode on Tuesday but realize that the big elections this past Wednesday in Virginia, Kentucky, New Jersey, Mississippi,

would provide important context for this conversation. The fact that Democrats continued

their string of Trump-era performances, obviously with the exception of

2021 and the back question over school closures, which raises some important questions that I wish I could

have asked Roy and John. Obviously the Democratic Party has a variety of coalitional and with
