I could have spoken with Ray for hours and hours.

His wisdom and experience and sense of humor,

it kind of makes him the perfect wheels-off guest.

He has a lifetime.

He has multiple lifetimes upon which to draw

when it comes to this creative thing that we do,

that we care about, that we wonder about.

And it's not like he knows all the secrets, but he's figured a lot of stuff out.

You know, maybe the secret is that there are no secrets.

There's just do it and do it.

As he says during the course of this interview, one foot in front of the other.

I love it. Ray Benson, for years, I'll admit it,

I was, honestly, I was, I was kind of scared of Ray. You know, he's a, he's, he's larger than life,

not just in the literal sense of the word. He's a giant human being. But he's larger than life,

you know, in his accomplishments, in his career, in his stories,

in the stories about him. He's a character, but he's not just a character. He's a real person,

you know, a real human being with depth and sensitivity. And y'all can tell. I'm excited about this episode of Wheels Off. I'm excited
