Welcome into the lounge presented by Draft Kings. I'm Garrett Downing. I'm here with Clifton

0:09.2

Brown and today we are joined by two guys who are really important in developing the Ravens

0:13.4

draft board and end up having a big role in who the Ravens are going to end up picking this year

0:17.8

in the draft. It's our director of college scouting, Andrew Raphael, and our assistant director of college scouting, Joey Cleary. So guys, thank you so much for the time here at the combine. Let's start with this. Just how big is this week for you in a staff as you build out this draft board? Yeah, I think it's awesome. It's just another box for these guys to check through the process. You know, we just got back from all the all-star games and draft meetings.

0:39.5

And now we had in the combine, get a chance to get around these guys, and then move into

0:44.2

pro days in another set of draft meeting.

0:45.8

So excited to get around the players and the new coaching staff and give these guys

0:50.0

an opportunity to prove themselves.

0:52.0

So when you look at this draft class, everyone's always interested in the makeup of a class,

0:58.1

strengths, weaknesses, how it matches up against our needs.

1:01.2

So Joey, like, when you look at this class, what are the things that stand out to you

1:05.0

when you're going through these early evaluations?

1:08.1

I think it's an interesting year because always every year starts and ends with the

1:13.6

quarterbacks. So this year it seems like there's a lower amount of those surefire guys that

1:19.6

are going to go in the top 10 and how that kind of ripple effects throughout the draft is interesting. But I feel like it's a very good draft in the middle rounds and the depth of each position,

1:32.3

particularly at the ones of need, is fun and exciting.

1:36.3

So, you know, it might not have to be in that first round,

1:39.3

and you can still find some really good players at positions of need that, you know, are exciting and would be great

1:44.2

additions. What are some of the specific things you guys are looking to find out about players

1:49.2

this week at the Combine being here with them? Yeah, obviously you have the on-field piece where

1:55.4

these guys are going to do all the testing, all the drill work, but then also, you know, getting a

2:00.1

chance to get around the coaches. This is a great opportunity for them to talk football and get these guys in a one-on-one setting, just see what their base foundation is, see what they know, see what they can learn in a short amount of time. Obviously, there's a time restriction on it, but just to get a good, you know, base layer of, okay, this is what he's done for the last few years. This is his understanding of, you know, offense and defensive scheme. And then, you know, obviously we've also got a chance to know a lot of these guys through the All-Star game circuit. A good portion of these guys were either at, you know, the American Bowl, the East West Shrine,
