Welcome back here to another edition of quick questions here on the Wolverine.

Today we're going to be talking about Michigan football expectations for this upcoming year.

J.J. McCarthy in the quarterback battle. Is it an open competition? We'll get into that.

Will Will Johnson start at cornerback? How is Mike Sainer still going to fare on each side of the football?

And who emerges as a top receiver this year?

All of that is about to be covered in more here on the Wolverine.

So we'll start with a question here from Rev the man who asks,

what makes you excited for this year's football team compared to previous years?

I think with this year's team, it's the fact that there are expectations.

Like going into last year, coming off a COVID season, we had no idea what to expect.

Hey, maybe just win eight games, nine games, get the culture back where it needs to be,

and use it as a springboard into this season.

Now, Michigan was able to springboard into what this season will be, but they got to have their cake and eat it too. The culture was restored. I think there are talented players up and down the roster, and you won a Big Ten championship. You beat Ohio State. You went to the college football playoff. And there's a lot to suggest that last year didn't just have to be a one-year wonder.

So I think when I look at things I'm most excited for, it's the fact that, you know,

despite losing an Aidan Hutchinson, despite losing a David O'Jabal, Hassan's, Josh Ross, you name it, there are guys at each position group that got plenty of chances to make plays and play winning football last year.

And I think just offensively, they're going to be deeper.

Defensively, you lose some star power, but I think you're quicker and more athletic,

younger in a lot of areas.

But I do think that you have a chance to be a more well-rounded football team and not just

be so reliant on some of the star power, which you're going to have to find it from somewhere in order to be that 10, 11, 12-win football team like they were last year. And I think it's there, but I think there are a lot of, a lot more candidates to be that this year. I think that's what's the most exciting thing to me about this team.
