It's the end of an era in Los Angeles as the Rams informed Cooper Cup that he will be released today.

This news was reported here on Wednesday afternoon by Tom Pellisero.

And unfortunately, I can't say this is a surprise.

We knew the Rams were looking to trade Cooper Cup.

We heard that him sticking with the team was the least likely outcome. And

ultimately, I mean, this comes down to a dollars and cents issue. They owed him $5 million and

guaranteed money. He'll still get that money. But his cap number for the year was nearly $30 million,

$10.6% of your cap. They went out and spent money on Devante Adams and actually will have

Adams at a lower number than what they were slated to pay Cup. He actually had one more year

beyond this year on his deal as well, but that will all be gone. Now, I expect Cooper Cup

to have a relatively robust market. He should land somewhere fairly

quickly, but let's put this into context. Cup is a 32-year-old wide receiver this season.

He also is a player who statistically has been on the decline and also has struggled to stay

healthy in recent seasons.

This past season, he played in 12 games.

That was the same in 23.

In 2022, he managed to play in just nine games.

Over that span of time, he's been okay when he's on the field.

I mean, he did hit triple digit targets this past season in those 12

games played. But overall, since the 2021 season where, let's be clear, that was a brilliant

season, 145 catches, nearly 2,000 receiving yards, 1947 and 16 touchdowns. It was a triple
