| 0:54.9 | And as we had heard, it was not befitting of us to make mention of the history of Umar ibn al-Khattab |
| 1:04.9 | and he did not mention himself and this was prior to him accepting Islam. |
| 1:10.9 | He says he engaged in all the vices. |
| 1:13.9 | He was a person and as he has said himself, who worshipped idols that he carved with his own hands |
| 1:21.9 | and he was a person who was involved not only with alcohol but even with women |
| 1:27.9 | and then as he grew up, he was well respected in Quraysh because he was a businessman |
| 1:33.9 | he used to travel a lot with his own caravans and with his own wealth up to the northern part of the Arabian peninsula |
| 1:41.9 | and coming down to the south as well and he earned a lot of his wealth |
| 1:45.9 | so at a young age not only was he wealthy and eloquent |
| 1:49.9 | but at the same time he was quite feared because of his power and might in Quraysh |
| 1:54.9 | and over and above that he was a person whom Quraysh used to use to go to other parts of the peninsula |
| 2:02.9 | whenever they needed to explain their position because of a difference that they may have had with the others |
| 2:08.9 | they used him as an ambassador. |
| 2:10.9 | He was known as Safir Quraysh which means one of the spokesperson of Quraysh |
| 2:15.9 | and an ambassador that they used to send to other regions or other parts of the peninsula |
