Summary
Do your kids know that they have what it takes to overcome struggle?
Do they feel confident in knowing what to do when it comes to life skills and everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, or taking care of animals?
Do they know what they’re good at and have a healthy sense of what to do with things they’re not good at?
We call this resourcefulness, and it’s one of the most important traits to cultivate in our kids.
What is resourcefulness?
How do we offer a healthy dose of both support and challenge to help our kids build resilience?
What do you do when you see things in your kids they don’t see in themselves?
These are the questions we tackle in this episode.

| 0:00.0 | Now, the idea of 20 minutes is that you're doing one on one time with your child, right? |
| 0:04.2 | Because especially if you have multiple children, your individual children aren't getting the attention of a single parent. |
| 0:11.8 | It's funny because our daughter actually started this, but anytime she gets an opportunity to have just the two of us, |
| 0:18.6 | she does this thing. Well, she'll look at us. She'll look up and she'll be like, and her face just gets real big. And she's just like, I get both of you. And now our five-year-old started doing it too. I'll be holding him, but he'll look at Christy and me. And he'll be like, you know, he's just so excited to get just one-on-one time with one or both of us. And I think kids long for that. They long to be seen. |
| 0:40.8 | I mean, think about it in your own life. You just long to be seen by, you know, your parent or |
| 0:46.6 | somebody that loves you. And ultimately, Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of that. And so being |
| 0:52.5 | able to get that with our kids, it's fuel for them. |
| 0:56.7 | It's fuel for their brain. |
| 0:58.2 | It's fuel for their soul. |
| 1:00.2 | It lifts their spirit. |
| 1:03.3 | I won't lose hope in the night when the fire is growing down. |
| 1:19.6 | I'll just let it, and I'll try, help me walk this road, and find my way back home. Find my way back home. Find my way back home. |
| 1:34.3 | Here we are. |
| 1:36.3 | What did you do before we just got over here, |
| 1:40.3 | what did you tell our kids to do? |
| 1:42.3 | You look so cold. |
| 1:43.3 | I'm kind of cold today. Tell me, |
| 1:45.2 | tell me what you did. It was fall spring in Tennessee and now it's like back to winter. Yeah, it's what did I tell the kids? What did I tell the kids? Third winter. Clean up in L-5. Clean up on aisle five. This is aisle five. I was like, Hey guys, we're gonna go do a podcast. |
| 2:00.4 | I need you to clean up on L5. |
| 2:01.8 | This is Al 5, which was like, hey, guys, we're going to go do a podcast. I need you to clean up on |
| 2:01.3 | all five. This is aisle five, which was like, it's like kitchen, dining room, living room is all one room. So it's like, this is aisle five. So this is what we're talking about today is resourcefulness. And, you know. I totally meant to do that. I had a question. You're welcome. I had a question asked of me this week in our kids RQ community, by the way, which we highly |
| 2:21.7 | recommend you check out. |
