We're hearing more and more stories of people who are struggling with gender issues, but we know in the

beauty of creation that God made us male and female.

That's one reason Dr. Meg Meeker encourages us as parents to let our boys be boys and girls be girls.

And she spoke with Focus President Jim Daly and me about the clear differences between boys and girls and the changes in her own family when after three

daughters a son came along. Meg welcome back to focus. Oh thanks for having me.

It's always so good to have you here.

It is. I love being here.

Your perspective.

I mean, it is steep in experience.

The 30 years of being a pediatrician, thousands of patients.

You know it is and I feel so blessed that at this stage in my career I still love what I do.

Yeah, and that is so good and you think of all those stories that even in your book

strong mother strong sons you rely a lot on those stories I know you protect your

patient's identity and change the names and all that but so many rich stories in there

both you know tough stuff and good stuff that you capture. The best part of it though is you have a son as well

so it's not just theoretical you had

to raise your son you and your husband yes and you mix some of that into your

book too so it's real world experience much to his chagrin my kids are always my mom we're not going in a book.

Have you negotiated that? Yeah. Well you know it is very interesting because we did have

three daughters and then our son came along and it was such a very different
