And trust and believe, that's a lot of work that he puts in to make sure that we're representing in a major way. So we shout out to you, Raider Nation, of course. Without you, there is no show, and without Ari, there is no YouTube page. So you can find him on him on twitter if you like at ari produces you could hit me up as well as many of you do at your boy q254 and if you want to be a part of the show we got the lockdown writer podcast voicemail line for you 707 654 46693 uh we had a lot of feedback based off the last couple days to show. So a lot of calls, |
| 1:11.5 | a lot of texts coming up in segment number three. There's no way I'm going to get to all of them, but trust and believe we'll hustle through them as much as we can throughout the course of the week. And I know we'll get more, but a lot of great feedback, a lot of great conversation, head coaching search, Fernando Mendoza and many, many more different subjects. So we'll get to as much as possible as we close things out. Segment number three. Segment number two will really focus in on the head coaching search and, you know, the teams that have been eliminated as far as they found their head coach, there was 10, now there's six, who the Raiders could be eyeing at this stage of the game, and how quickly could they possibly be coming up with |
| 1:44.7 | a decision. We'll talk about that. Segment number two. Here in seven number one, news and notes of the day. We'll go ahead and jump right into it. And off top, we won't talk about the head coaching search. We'll actually talk about Ashton Genti, who on Tuesday was named to the PFWA all rookie team. That's the pro football writers of America. They're all rookie team. And on the, |
| 2:03.4 | and rookie of the year was Teteroa McMillan, the wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers, offensive rookie of the year. Tetaroa McMillan from the Panthers as well. And defensive rookie of the year, linebacker Carson Swessinger from the Cleveland Browns. But the all rookie team, as I mentioned, Ashton Genty was named of that. So the quarterback was Tyler Shook from the New Orleans Saints. Running back, number one was Trayvion Henderson from the Patriots. Number two, Ashton Genti from the Raiders. Y-receiptiever of Mecca, Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Taderoa McMullen, Mill, and from the Panthers. tied in, Tyler Warren from the Colts Center, Jonah Monham, from the Jaguars, guard Tyler Booker, from the Cowboys, Gray Zabel, from the Seahawks, and tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. from the Saints and Armand Membu from the New York Jets. So there you go. Those are the rookies to the all-rookie team from PFWA and some names on there that we talked about quite a bit throughout the course of, you know, the draft process and should the Raiders consider these guys at number six. I know Kelvin Banks Jr. The tackle out of Texas was a guy we talked about a lot. Armand Membu was definitely a guy that we talked about a lot. He went number seven overall to the Jets. You know, we talked about guys like, you know, Travion Henderson, maybe a little bit later. I know folks brought up Tedaroa McMillan. You saw what he was able to do with the Carolina Panthers. So a lot of deserving guys with a lot of respect there. Tyler Warren for the Colts to stud tied in. He was absolutely that stud tied in. I know the Raiders don't need tight end. They've got two of them already. Still haven't found out a way to use Michael Mayor correctly, but they've got two stud tight ends. But you got to tip the cap to all the rookies that made the all rookie team and Teddiro McMillan, rookie of the year and offensive rookie of the year as well. And even defensive rookie of the year. We talked about him quite a bit, right? I can't remember. I think it was, which one was it? Man, it was a caller that brought his name up first before anyone else had talked about him. It was, man. Oh, Educator Raider. Boom, there it is. I got it. I don't remember everything, but I remember that. Educator Raider talked about linebacker Carson Swessinger from UCLA. The Cleveland Browns got him at the top of the second round, and he is defensive rookie of the year by way of PFWA. They're all rookie team. So for Genti, I talked about it quite a bit as the season got wrapped up, 975 yards rushing, five touchdowns, 346 yards receiving, five touchdowns, 1321 yards from scrimmage, 10 total TDs. Not a bad first year. Obviously, it could have been better. The Raiders in general could have been better. The offense could have been a lot better. Didn't have the, you know, didn't have the numbers that we all expected them to do, but not bad for a rookie year. If you had told me that was going to be the numbers when I was interviewing him back in Green Bay. So I still give him a lot of credit for what he was able to do. Now, as far as the Raiders head coaching search goes, the interviews that they conducted on Tuesday, they completed two interviews, both with defensive coordinators, Chargers defensive coordinator, Jesse Minter, and Panthers defensive coordinator, Ejero Evo. So now they are Rooney Rule, |
| 4:51.3 | uh, views both with defensive coordinators, Chargers' defensive coordinator Jesse Minter and Panthers' defensive coordinator, Igerow, Evereaux. So now they are Rooney Rule compliant, meaning that they are free to hire anyone at any given time. If they find the right guy and they decide they want to make an offer, they can do that. They've gone through all the boxes that they need to check to be able to go ahead and make that happen. I've talked about the Rooney Rule many times. I'm not a big fan of it. One, it's the Rooney Rule, and I don't think that you |
| 5:07.6 | shouldn't have to have a... to check to be able to go ahead and make that happen. I've talked about the Rooney Rule many times. |
| 5:05.3 | I'm not a big fan of it. |
| 5:39.9 | One, it's the Rooney Rule, and I don't think that you shouldn't have to have a rule to be able to interview certain guys and hire certain guys. If you want to interview a guy, interview them. I get it in theory. I don't want anyone to get it twisted that I think or I feel like it's, you know, a slap in the face, But at certain times when guys are just checking boxes or teams are just checking boxes, all right, let me go interview this guy. All right, now I'm Rooney Rule compliant. Now I can go hire who I really want. I hate that. What I really can't stand is when I tweet out, hey, this guy just got interviewed. Oh, that's just a Rooney Rule interview. Like, I just don't like that myself. Again, |
| 5:38.0 | I think that the rule is great in theory. It's just the way that it's being executed and the way that it's being, you know, kind of just glossed over by NFL organizations. That's what I really don't like. So it's not necessarily even the rule. It's just the way that it's being executed. And look, that's what happens, right? Can I tell you how many plans I've had in my head that were fantastic? |
| 5:56.2 | Oh man, this is a great idea. I'm going to do this, then, the third. just the way that it's being executed. And look, that's what happens, right? Can I tell you how many plans I've had in my head that were fantastic? |
| 5:56.1 | Oh, man, this is a great idea. |
| 5:57.4 | I'm going to do this, that, and the third. |
| 5:58.7 | And then when I executed it, yeah, not so much. So, again, I understand the theory behind it. I don't want to downplay that. Like it's not a big deal, but I just don't like the way that it's kind of going by and just being, you know, kind of cast to the side. |
| 6:11.6 | And, oh, let's just go call Patrick Graham. |
| 6:13.6 | Let's go call Easy Row Everro. Let's go call insert whatever, you know, black coordinator that you want to, you know, or a minority coordinator just to be able to check that box. I'm not a big fan of that. And there's so many times that I get on social media whenever I tweet, oh, this guy just got interviewed. |
