| 0:00.0 | The Raiders appear to be as close to the finish line as possible in their pursuit of their next hit football coach without actually being at the finish line. |
| 0:08.3 | That plus more comes up on Monday's edition of the Locked-on Raiders podcast for February 2nd, 2026. |
| 0:13.3 | You are Locked-on Raiders, your daily Las Vegas Raiders podcast, part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day. Welcome, A, Raider Nation, to another edition of the Locked-on Raiders podcast, part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your number one sports podcast network. We're very proud of that. We're very proud of the fact that this show continues to grow each and every day, and that's because of your support and because of the great job that my man Ari does behind the scenes, making sure we look good and sound good by way of the YouTube page, even when we're on the road. Ari makes sure that he holds it down. And as you could tell, if you are watching on the YouTube page that we are on the road, we're in San Francisco. We're at the Moscone Center. It's the Calm Before the Storm Radio Road. Tell you a lot more about that. but we do want to shout out Ari for always being flexible and making sure that he's |
| 0:55.4 | able to deliver a fantastic job like he does each and every day. So he's on Twitter at Ari Produces. You can hit me up as well at your boy Q254. And of course, we've got the Lockdown Raider podcast, voicemail line for you, 707-654-4-6-9-3. And as you can imagine, a lot of feedback based off what went down over the weekend. |
| 1:12.0 | Saturday, the Raiders had another meeting, another interview with Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak. And, of course, there was a lot of anticipation what was going to happen with that. And then a lot of good positivity for the Raiders on Sunday. So a lot of feedback to get to, we'll get to as many calls in Texas as we close up the show. We'll do that in segment number three. Segment number two, as I mentioned in the top, about as close to the finish line as possible when it comes to who the Raiders next head. Football coach is going to be. So what should we be on a look for? What could possibly Clint Kubiak, if in fact he does seal the deal, sign the contract with the Raiders after the Super Bowl is over, what can we expect and what should we be looking for? We'll talk about that and coming up in segment number two. Segment number one, just news and notes of today, and you know, you guessed it, it's all about Clint Kubiak. And of course, being here at the Moscone Center for Radio Row, Media Row is what they're actually calling it in preparation for Super Bowl 60. |
| 2:01.5 | We'll go ahead and jump into that after I tell you about the title sponsor of the show, which is Game Time. Download the Game Time app, create an account, use promo code locked on for $20 off your first purchase. So there was at one point, 10 hit coaching vacancies. Now there appears to be none. And again, the Raiders cannot seal the deal and get the contract signed with Clint Kubiak until after the Super Bowl is over and wrapped up. So February 9th is when we could start to look for that. But based off what happened over the weekend, the Arizona Cardinals, as a matter of fact, they hired Mike LaFleur, who was one of the guys that the Raiders had talked to. That was the offensive coordinator for the Rams. They hired him on Sunday, afterwards started to roll out on Sunday that the Raiders interview with Kubiak went really well and that the Raiders are in position to get their next quarterback, or head coach, I should say, as a matter of fact, Adam Scheftert put out sources. After meeting Saturday with Las Vegas and Arizona, Seahawks' offensive coordinator, Clint Kubiak, intends to try to work out a deal to become the next head coach of the Raiders. No deal can be |
| 2:54.3 | finalized until after the Super Bowl, but Clint Kubiak wants to coach the Raiders, and they want him to be their head coach. Now it's only a matter of time before the two sides can formalize a deal. So again, we know that it can't be set in stone. It cannot be finalized right now. It cannot be finalized until after the Super Bowl is over, but it's about as close to official as it could possibly be. Now, we know that there's, you know, scenarios that have popped up in the past with, you know, coaches like Josh McDaniels, coaches with Ben, like Ben Johnson, who was on his way to Washington, then he got, you know, turned around and decided to go back to Detroit. You know, anything can happen. We remember Cliff Kingsbury not too long ago, a couple seasons ago when he was supposed to be the offensive coordinator for Antonio Pierce, and then he decided not to. So anything can happen in between now and then. We've documented that really well, but as long as Clint Kubiak wants to be a head football coach, he's going to be the head football coach of the silver and black. Jeremy Fowler from ESPN tweeted out, the Raiders front office has begun notifying the rest of the field that they've been eliminated as a team has made his decision on head coach. Carolina defensive coordinator, Ezrault, Ejero, Evo, was considered the number two in the equation behind Kubiak. Team was pretty zeroed in on a going offensive. So, I mean, again, it makes all the sense of the world, knowing what the Raiders are in position of, knowing that they have a chance to bring it, Fernando Mendoza is the number one overall pick. Why not get a young offensive-minded guy that can grow with that quarterback and give this team an opportunity? But it's funny, man, it's the week of Super Bowl, you know, 60. We're here in |
| 4:15.8 | the Bay. You know, the Raiders so many times, you know, aren't really talked about that much this week. And I guarantee that they're going to be a subject of a lot of conversations. I guarantee I'll have a bunch of interview requests that I'll be doing that people want to talk about the silver and black. I want to talk about the Raiders, want to talk about the direction that they're going. |
| 4:32.0 | As a matter of fact, Sunday night, as soon about the silver and black. I want to talk about the Raiders, want to talk about the direction that they're going. |
| 4:32.0 | As a matter of fact, Sunday night, as soon as the news broke out, I had a couple of requests already that night. Hey, Q, can you jump on for a few minutes to talk to John Lund on Westwood One Sports? Or can you talk to this guy, you know, to talk about the Raiders and Clint Kubiak? Like there's a big buzz around the Raiders, which is awesome based off Clint Kubiak. |
| 4:48.7 | And I mean, look what he's doing with that offense there in Seattle and just the way that he's aligned up players and put him in position like Jackson Smith and Jigba, a guy that you know is always going to be double-teened and triple team, just like Brock Bowers would be. But yet he schemes him up, puts him in position. So when he is out there, |
| 5:04.9 | you know, in formation and trying to go and make plays, he's able to get open and not have that |
| 5:10.1 | kind of, you know, not have that kind of, you know, coverage and be basically hampered like, |
| 5:16.6 | you know, most big-time receivers. Like we see Brock Bowers all the time, right? We see Brock Bowers |
| 5:20.7 | all the time get doubled and triple teamed and they're not going to allow this guy to break them and beat them. And Clint Kubiak is really good with Scheme. Obviously, he comes from a very long lineage of NFL coaching experience when it comes to the Kubiak. Gary Kubiak, obviously, is his famous father, |
| 5:38.6 | multiple times Super Bowl champ. So, I mean, I don't have to go in on that. But it's an exciting time. It's a nice buzz. It's great to have a good buzz around this team where there hasn't been. Most of the time is doom and gloom. And, you know, people I'll walk around here at the Moscone Center or wherever we are on the road at, you know, Media Row, |
| 5:54.5 | and they're like, man, what are you going to do with those Raiders, man? |
| 5:56.1 | What are the Raiders going to do? |
| 5:57.1 | What's going on with them? walk around here at the Moscone Center or wherever we are on the road at, you know, Media Row. |
| 5:54.5 | And they're like, man, what are you going to do with those Raiders, man? What are the Raiders going to do? |
| 5:57.1 | What's going on with them? And it's always a lot of negativity. But now there's a nice little buzz. And as I mentioned, this is the column before the storm before this, you know, really gets ramped up here. but there's already a nice little buzz and, you know, everyone I run into, |
| 6:10.3 | hey, man, that's going to be a good hire, man, Kubiak, that's a good hire. |
