Yeah, hi everyone and thanks so much for joining us today for this new episode all about Dragons. In the upcoming months we're going to

offer a trilogy of episodes about the three prominent and mysterious species in a song of ice and fire.

This one will be on dragons, then we'll have one on the others, and finally we'll look

at the Children of the Forest and Greensea's. It's an exciting trio of episodes that we think will work very well together.

So today our focus will be on those flying fire-breathing creatures that so many of us love so much.

We'll begin with a brief look at dragon mythology from the real world and examine why almost

every culture features dragons of some sort and how this human obsession with a mythical creature

has seeped into our storytelling and literature.

Then we'll move on to a discussion about the origins of dragons in a song of ice and fire.

There are mysterious species and so we'll be putting our theory crafting hats on and sharing

some of our theories about how the Valerians went from Shepherds to Dragon Riders.

Who were the mysterious Ash-I-E that are said to have taught them about Dragons?
