Summary

Finding time for yourself may seem like an odd concept — especially if you’re quarantining alone — but it’s easy to get distracted, from being caught up in Zoom calls to binge-watching TV or constantly reading the news. If you’re with others, it’s tempting to look at taking time for yourself as selfish, but in solitude, we can find a way to reconnect with ourselves. And when we go back out into life we can be better for ourselves, and for the people around us. Want more Andy? Try Headspace today. Learn more about your ad choices. 1:17.7

feel calmer. I feel more relaxed. I feel recharged in some way. I maybe have a little more clarity

1:23.2

in my mind. Whereas when I'm very distracted in the world, when I'm very cooled up either

1:27.5

in my internal chat or the external noise, I actually feel like that is the escape in

1:33.3

some ways. I'm not really experiencing the here and now. I'm cooled up in commentary

1:38.2

on what did happen or commentary on what might happen rather than simply being present.

1:46.2

So when we step out of the world and when we are quiet still for just a short period

of time in the day, there is the opportunity to really reconnect with what's happening

1:57.6

right now, with how we feel right now, to feel a greater sense of appreciation for those

people in our lives so that when we go back out into life, we can be there in a better
