0:50.0	that it was predicted that if those growth rates continued, then sometime in this century the

1:01.7	We talked about how the growth of the church became associated with and publicly proclaimed as a sign
1:08.7	that the church was true because the growth of the church was fulfilling prophecy, both old and modern, both by Daniel and by Joseph Smith.
1:19.0	Now certainly it was not the only sign of the truth of the church that was proclaimed.
1:24.6	There was still revelation being received by the prophet of the church as a sign.
1:29.6	There was still priesthood blessings resulting in healings as a sign. There were still gifts of the spirit as a sign.
1:37.6	But in the 20th century, as prophecies became scarce as healings became non-existent as other gifts of the spirit fell away.
1:47.6	The growth of the church became a sign that was more and more dependent upon to show the truth of the church.
1:55.0	As a Mormon who was baptized back in 1978, I remember gathering every April and every October in general conference to wait with bated breath to find out what the new church membership numbers were and how much the church had grown in membership in the past six months. And I was never disappointed.
2:15.0	There was phenomenal growth during this period and I do not think that I was the only
2:20.5	member of the church who felt the same way about the report on statistics of the
2:25.3	growth of membership. But since that time and more and more in recent years the
2:29.8	church membership growth has suffered from two problems. First off the growth itself is decrease The church

2:40.0	But not only is growth decreasing,
2:42.0	members are leaving the church now in record numbers.
