It is now 2018, which officially marks

my 40th anniversary as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ

of Latter-day Saints. It was in June of 1978 that I joined

the Church, fresh out of high school as an 18-year-old. And when I joined the LDS Church,

it was a wonderful time. vistas were opened to me. I was taught

three primary things that demonstrated that the LDS Church was the true Church of God on the earth today.

The first was that miracles had not ceased in the Old and the New Testament, but they continued

to occur today on a regular basis in the LDS Church, primarily among the leadership of the

Church, but it was not restricted only to the leadership, even the lay members of the

LDS Church could experience miracles in their lives just as miracles

had been performed amongst the early followers of Jesus Christ in the New Testament.

The second thing I was taught was that the LDS Church held the priesthood power

of God and that by virtue of that priesthood power, healings could be performed today, just as they had been performed in the New Testament.

And finally I was taught that revelation had not ceased with the Bible,

but that God continued to speak to his authorized servants today and that those authorized servants were found in exclusively found in I might add the LDS Church the leaders of the, especially the Prophet and President of the Church, received

regular revelation directly from God himself.

It was generally understood by me and other members of the church that the apostles met regularly with Jesus Christ on the fourth floor of the temple during their weekly meetings.

Maybe not every week Jesus showed up, but very frequently and in fact being an apostle meant having a

personal visitation by Jesus Christ so that they could bear their apostolic

witness of Jesus Christ to the world.
