broadcasting behind enemy lines. Tonight's episode, disappointing Mormonism. You know,

sometimes I wonder why it is that Mormonism can be so disappointing to me. But I think the obvious answer to that is because I loved it so much and I trusted it so

much and I believed it so much.

It is only when you really believe and trust someone that they have the ability to disappoint

you.

And the same with an institution like the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

It is only when I love an institution, a church, so much that it has the ability to disappoint me.

For instance, a number of years ago, there was some sort of scandal involving the United Way

and the CEO of the company having gold fixtures in his bathroom. That created quite a scandal so much so

that I can remember it even though I think it's been over 25 years since that happened. And yet,

even though I remember it, it did not disappoint me. And the reason it didn't disappoint me is

because I have no involvement with the United Way. I have never volunteered there. I've never

worked for the United Way. I've never contributed to the United Way. And I think that the closer

a person is to the United Way, the more likely they are to be disappointed by that kind of a

revelation. By the same token, though I was not disappointed by that scandal involving the United

Way, I was very disappointed in the LDS Church

over the SEC, the Securities and Exchange scandal that broke wide open just a couple of months ago.

By the way, I am recording this on April 16, 2020, for the record. But you might ask,

why is it that you're disappointed by the LDS Church in

2003 when you have long since concluded that its truth claims just do not hold up? When you no longer

believe in the divine origin and nature and guidance of the LDS Church, why should an SEC scandal
