Now Patrick Mason is a person who probably needs little to no introduction to most of my

listening audience.

By way of brief background, Patrick Mason is an American historian and now I'm going from of Leonard J. Earington Chair of Mormon History and Culture at Utah State University, and formerly

was the Howard W. Hunter Chair in Mormon Studies at Claremont Graduate University

in Claremont, California.

Professor Mason was in that post from 2011 to 2018.

Patrick Mason earned a Master of Arts in History

and International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame in 2003.

He then received a doctorate in history there in 2005.

Professor Mason has published a number of articles

and been cited in a number of sources

on various aspects of Mormonism

he has perhaps best known among Mormons

for his book,

Planted, which is subtitled,

Belief and Belonging in an Age of Doubt.

That book was published in 2015.
