that I was extremely involved in Mormon apologetics back during the decade of the 1980s.

But I haven't gone into a lot of detail regarding that subject.

Tonight, I want to talk about some of the experiences I had during the 1980s with Mormon apologetics

and then end with a special surprise for listeners of this podcast.

As you probably know by now I joined the LDS Church, fresh out of high school, back in

June of 1978.

And although I had never been a member of a Christian church or any other church for that

matter prior to my joining the LDS church I nevertheless

had a culturally assimilated respect for the Bible I had never read the Bible and yet I

believed it to be the word of God.

So when I was taking the missionary discussions

and the missionaries were teaching me about the Godhead

from the LDS point of view,

I asked about the doctrine of the Trinity and whether that was not true.

Because as I say, although I had never read the Bible and

although I had never studied Christianity or the Creed's,

I had the idea that the Trinity was the correct concept of God and that because it was the correct concept of God almost universally believed amongst Christians, it must therefore be in the Bible.

Well, no sooner had I asked the question than the missionary who was teaching me quickly opened up his Bible to Matthew chapter 3 and read to me the account of the baptism of Jesus in which all three members of the Godhead are represented as being in the same place at the same time,
